The term integration is causing confusion. A university dealing with more than one system of medicine or running clinics of these systems under the same roof, sharing all infrastructures cannot be considered as integration of these systems, when the term is used in the sense in which Santhosh takes it.
 
            I have my doubts regarding the science behind the systems other than Allopathy. But I do not see why a single university should not handle these, if at all it need be. And Mr. Vijayachandran’s proposal with regard to PHCs is also welcomed.

Based on the recommandations I think yesterday heath minister
said about thinking of establishing A AYUSH univesity for other than
alaopathic sysytems in Kerala.Do the concept of establishing seperate
universities for different system of midicines will serve any purpose?
We in kerala have an example of the faith of a university ,the
Sankachary Sanskrit University Kalady.It would have benn started as a
university of all liquastic studies and ohther humanitics instead of
Sanskrit .If that was done at the time of inception itself its faith
would have been a different one now.
      The Eqbal committe has recommanded for establishing a AYUSH
univesity for Ayurveda,Unani,Sidda and Homeo system of medicines.The
main arguement put forward for establishing AYUSH uty is that it can
attract funds from the central govt and even international agencies?
I cant understand the logic behind the recommandations that such funds
will not be available if all the systems of medicines are brought
under a common medical varsity and equal impotance be given for all
systems with autonomouns departments? Such an integrated university
will be new begining and a model for India.I think govt before
implementing the same should explore this option.
     When technology becomes the integral part of medical science and
even integration between enginerring and medicine is the new trend
world over ,we the so called pioneers of chage, are not dared for a
new thinkin?
