Well, bangalore has lots of kannada films running, even in Multiplexes. If
the films are not faring well, that says something about the quality of the
films. I believe that language wise Bangalore has not lost out much. All
boards are written in Kannada as well, and those in buses are written only
in Kannada (except interstate buses).
A Kannada chauvinist has all reasons to be happy, in my opinion.
Another thing that may need a worry is the crass consumerist culture. But I
think Kerala is already ahead of Bangalore in that respect, so...
And if the Smart City can do something about the "false morality" culture in
Kerala( screw the ladies in bus. watch porn, and clap when lalettan utters
his latest misogynist dialog. but if a girl comes and sit at an empty seat
in a bus (not reserved for ladies), call her a whore. and no ladies in roads
or buses after 6.30. and ladies of course manages the kitchen, does the
washing while the husband reads newspaper over a coffee, and both goes to
office together), I would be most happy.
But. Cost of living will go up. Land will cost more than gold. And all sorts
of such things will make life tough for many. And this needs a lot of
thought & action to be put in.
