Thanks for the invite. I would have loved to do that, and be present at
discussion. But, I was at ekm for around 5 days last week (which involved 3
days leave) and hence, yet another trip within such a short period is kinda
going to be tough.

I think following up the 13th may discussion on this forum would be a good
idea too. esp. when we have eminent people such as RVG etc in the forum who
can comment authoritatively given the vast amounts of experience. Mebbe, we
should look at the various IT cities in India, list down what kind of
effects IT has had on them (including things like a lot of construction, its
effects on envt, the huge number of vehicles on the road, opening up of a
lot of malls and its effect on the spending style etc) and systematically
list out incremental measures on how the bad effects can be restricted.

There was an exhibition on "Naaleyude Kochi" at Kaloor Stadium last week by
the Architects Association. Seems like they have been looking into the
environment aspects a lot, and they had a lot of suggestions, some of which
seemed very interesting. For instance, observations that we need more places
where there could be gatherings of people (such as the renovated Durbal Hall
Ground, Parks etc) in the city and how to preserve the Heritage Centers etc.
Certain suggestions like, having offices at walkable distances from home etc
seemed a bit too unpractical, but many others seemed overly
interesting. Ernakulam definitely needs a lot of attention, or else, it
would soon be another Bangalore.
