You have to compile firefox with an option to enable pango. The
version that comes on debian (and on ubuntu also I guess) is compiled
with pango support enabled. If you are using a different distribution
you will have to compile it yourself with pango support (you might be
lucky to get some pre-built images if you look for it).
and you will have to set an environment variable MOZ_DISABLE_PANGO=0
if it doesn't work otherwise.
