Invitation to the National Bioethics Conference, and Call for Abstracts

Greetings from the secretariat of the Second National Bioethics Conference
of the Indian Journal of Medical Ethics. Please do note that the closing
date for submission of abstracts for the Second National Bioethics
Conference is 15 June, 2007.

The conference is to take place from the 6th to 8th December, 2007 at the
Convention Centre, National Institute for Mental Health and Neurosciences in
Bangalore. The Indian Journal of Medical Ethics is a specialized,
peer-reviewed and indexed bioethics Journal that has been published every
quarter since 1993.
The journal is organising the conference along with 38 collaborating
institutions across India.

Theme: Moral and Ethical Imperatives of Health care Technologies: Scientific,
legal and socio-economic perspectives on use and misuse

Sub-themes: 1. Technologies in Medical Practice
2. Research on Healthcare Technologies
3. Health care Technologies, Public Health and Policies

The conference is open to views and debates from all parts of the world and
is not confined to any region.

Submissions can be made online, and can also be sent to

Registration for all three days
On or before August 31, 2007
For India, SAARC countries, and LDCs - Rs 800
Participants from the rest of world - US$ 60;
thereafter, Rs 1,000 and US$ 75 respectively.

Spot registration (for a day)
India, SAARC countries, and LDCs - Rs 500
Participants from the rest of the world - US$30

All categories of registrations are inclusive of conference material, food
(lunch and tea) and access to all sessions, but do not include
accommodation, breakfast and dinner.

Full-cost registration includes conference material, food (lunch and tea),
access to all sessions, accommodation, in-country economy air travel - Rs
90,000 (or US$ 2,000)

Payment for registration and accommodation should be made by a cheque or
demand draft in favour of "Indian Journal of Medical Ethics" payable at
Bangalore. Registrants are requested to add Rs 50 or US $ 5 for bank charges
for outstation cheques.
